Biography
I aim to provide drama in landscape by means of light, colour and am prepared to manipulate what I see.
I was born in Galashiels, Selkirkshire and have lived in Dumfries & Galloway since 1975. I hold a degree in Art History and a diploma in Fine Art, having studied at Edinburgh College of Art, Cumbria College of Art and the Open University.
I took early retirement from my post as Assistant Director of Education in charge of Further Education in Dumfries & Galloway in 1983 after a major illness and since then I have worked full time as a private tutor in drawing and painting and as an artist. I now live in Moniaive at Mill Studio. In addition to being a regular exhibitor at the Ottersburn Gallery, I have exhibited widely in Scotland and have had many one-man shows in Dumfries & Galloway and the Borders. I have also exhibited in France and the USA with Binotti Galleries, in Holland and in a number of Open Competitions in Scotland as well as the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Art and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour.
